Coach Education/Development
A major part of my role as Hockey Operations Manager is to develop our club and representative coaches. Throughout the year we hold monthly coaching workshops open to all coaches, players and parents. These workshops give us an opportunity to discuss various coaching topics, update skills, learn more about the game and much more.
Accreditation courses are also available for all coaches. Details of courses can be found on the Hockey Australia website under the HockeyEd tab. We conduct a Foundation Leach Coaching Course in Gympie each year. Please register your interest. The coach accreditation levels are:
- Foundation Lead - Level 1 (course held in Gympie annually)
- Development Lead - Level 2
- Advanced Lead - Level 3
We have plenty of coaching opportunities at Gympie Hockey from helping out with our beginner Hook in2 Hockey kids, coaching a junior team or taking away one of our representative teams away to State Titles. Please contact Ben if interested in any of these positions or if you require more information.
Player Development
Another part of my role involves assisting all of our representative teams with preparing for the various tournaments throughout the year. This may involve planning, fitness, selection, assisting training sessions and providing feedback to players and coaches.
The Bent Street Vet Academy is a great way for our junior players to develop their game further with specialised coaching from our Hockey Operations Manager. The academy is open to all our Under 14, Under 16 & Under 18 Gympie Representatives..
Private 1 on 1 Lessons are available with Ben Fitzpatrick are available for all coaches and players. Open to all ages and abilities. Contact Ben to book or enquire.
Every Wednesday night during the season we hold skills sessions for all players, coaches, parents and supporters of all ages and abilities to learn more about specific skills. Keep up to date on the latest information on our Gympie Hockey facebook page.
